רָחַקְתִּי מֵאֶרֶץ אֲבוֹתַי,
רָחַקְתִּי מִשְּׁמָם וּמִשִּׁירָם.
וְעַדַיִן הַשֶּׁקֶט שֶׁלָּהֶם אִתִּי,
כַּצֵּל אֲשֶׁר הוֹלֵךְ אַחֲרֵי הָאָדָם.
עַכְשָׁו אֲנִי מַפְנֶה אֶת פָּנַי אָחוֹר.
אֲנִי מְחַפֵּשׂ אֶת מַה שֶּׁאָבַד.
יִהְיוּ אֵלּוּ שֶׁהָלְכוּ לְפָנַי מַכִּירִים אוֹתִי,
וְאֶמְצָא אֶת הַדֶּרֶךְ בַּיְתָה.
רָחַקְתִּי מִשְּׁמָם וּמִשִּׁירָם.

I have gone far from the land of my fathers,
far from their name and from their song.
And still their silence is with me,
like the shadow that walks behind a man.
Now I turn my face back.
I seek what was lost.
May those who went before me know me,
and may I find the way home.
